As an aficionado of the pre-war blues, Hyllus has made a special study of American guitar and harmonica music specifically arranged and intended for solo performance. His repertoire currently features the music of Charlie Patton, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson, Deford Bailey, Jaybird Coleman, and many, many others both obscure and well known, predominantly from the 20’s and 30’s. Occasionally, some of New York City’s finest players accompany Hyllus as well, including bebop giant Charlie Apicella, blues legend JJ Appleton (of JJ Appleton and Jason Ricci), and Coulee Slatnick (often found tap dancing at Birdland, amongst other local venues).
Hyllus has released two singles to date, both of which can be streamed now on Soundcloud and will be coming soon to all platforms.
